Curriculum Team Initiatives and Contacts

September 24, 2024

We are thrilled to share some of the exciting learning opportunities and resources we have developed for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Curriculum Team is dedicated to supporting educators in delivering high-quality instruction that positively impacts student learning across all grade levels.

Key Initiatives

Literacy Framework
One of our major focuses this year is the K-12 Literacy Framework. This comprehensive resource ensures that our instruction encompasses all the elements necessary for students to become literate individuals. Literacy is a lifelong journey. It is more than decoding words; it is about understanding, communication, meaning-making, and building connections to oneself, the community, and the world.

Numeracy Learning Progressions
We are also excited about implementing the K-5 Numeracy Learning Progressions and developing a Numeracy Framework. These tools are crucial for helping students develop strong mathematical skills and conceptual understanding.

SIOP Training
Our training in the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) will help educators adopt culturally sustaining practices. This training aims to enhance instructional strategies to serve our diverse student population better.

Modern Languages K-12
Language workshop opportunities are available in collaboration with our Digital Learning Dept. (e.g., AI in the Additional Language Classroom on Oct.25th) and Literacy Dept. (e.g., French version of UFLI, RELI reading assessment in FI), and further additional language learning opportunities are available throughout the school year (e.g., 7 steps to a language-rich interactive additional language classroom).

Digital Learning
Digital learning is another key area of focus. We offer guidance on effective digital tools, digital literacy, and integrating technology into the classroom. Our goal is to empower teachers to create engaging, tech-enhanced learning environments.

Mentorship Opportunities
Mentorship is vital for professional growth. We provide various mentorship opportunities to support educators at different career stages, fostering a collaborative and supportive teaching community.

How to Stay Informed
To keep up to date with all the professional development opportunities, please refer to the Curriculum Bulletin, which is emailed regularly. You can also visit the Curriculum webpage to access Curriculum Resources, ProD Workshop opportunities, the ELL SharePoint, or the Digital Learning SharePoint.
