The Buzz of Christmas

The excitement for this time of the year is ever present through the buzz and energy of students. Most of their anticipation is waiting for the first snowfall. They are the ones that remind us of the “most wonderful time of the year”. In the hustle and bustle of adult life we often forget the joys of being a “kid” at Christmas time. At Auguston Traditional the spirit of Christmas begins to reverberate within our walls by mid-November. We begin with our Christmas Market where vendors and artisans display and sell their wares. This is followed by our own Christmas Bazaar organized by our parents. Items donated by our school community are available for purchase by our students at a nominal price for their parents and siblings.

The pride that students feel in buying gifts for their parents and siblings is priceless. All proceeds from the bazaar are usually donated to charities such as the foodbank. Can’t forget our Santa Pancake Breakfast where students visit with Santa and then enjoy pancakes with their families. As a school community we also look forward to reinforcing the spirit of giving back as a learning experience for our students by organizing a Christmas Food Drive. This year we decided to help families in need from one of our school communities. Of course, there is always the preparation for the Christmas Concert evening. Classes have been busily rehearsing their songs the past three weeks in preparation for their delightful upcoming performance. This year’s theme is Christmas Around the World. I am always most appreciative of the time, energy and commitment that teachers, support staff and students put into making this evening special! And so from all of us we wish you a joyful and healthy Christmas!
